NJ Legislature introduces resolution regarding New York Red Bulls' Name...

don't these idiots have anything better to do....

http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/2006/Bills/AR/159_I1.PDF

anyone see Monty Python's the Life of Brian...remember all the meetings and resolutions the Peoples Front of Judea held (or was it the Judean Peoples Front)?   :)

choice excerpts...

"but the team has directly benefited from the expenditure of public funds provided by the taxpayers of New Jersey for the development, maintenance and operations of Giants Stadium at the Meadowlands Complex"

hmmm...lets add.... while charging the team rent which bled the league for its entire existence...oh...lets not forget that the team doesn't share in concessions, merchandising or parking revenue.  yes...the metros are the ones who benefited......  hmmm..... i completely understand, lets recognize the costs and not the revenues.

that's like accusing a tenant in nyc of a studio apartment paying $2,500 of benefiting from the relationship because they get to use the landlord's apartment...  NJSEA and the NJ taxpayers should thank the metros for providing revenue to a facility when it wasn't being used....all while NJSEA has been anything but supportive or compromising at all while dealing with the metros....  how come they let championsworld run a circus through town while completely snubbing aeg ?

"....and will thereby further benefit from the expenditure of public funds to finance the construction and development of that new stadium; "

right...and a company building a stadium in an abandoned industrial site that's going to revitalize an entire area isn't benefiting the county or the state?  by creating jobs, revenue, taxes, etc.

what's great about their resolving their great dissatisfaction is that it means nothing.

what about all the disrespect the Jets and Giants are doing to the great state of New Jersey.  As keith said to me, you can easily replace Red Bull New York with New York Giants or New York Jets and the resolution would read just the same, except for it would probably be even more applicable regarding teams that benefit from NJ tax dollars.

give me a break.  for 10 years, NJ politicos have ignored the team all together, done everything possible to stop the construction of the stadium (which would take events away from the NJSEA) and now they found someone too bully around because they want to use new york in their name?  go pick a fight with the giants and jets.

hmmm...what about someone wanting to open a New York Deli, New York Pizza, Brooklyn Italian Ices?  where will their dissatisfaction end?  Point being, bergen and hudson county are clearly part of the NEW YORK metropolitan area.  accept it, get over it and move on.

One sister is always prettier.  the sooner the one who isn't realizes it and accepts it, the better.  Jealousy never accomplishes anything.

also should be noted that Red Bull has offices in Hoboken, NEW JERSEY.

wonder what would happen if Red Bull said, "fine...don't want us...we're building in Queens." (if they could find land, etc. to do it).  they have the money.   if i had a multi billion dollar company i would do it just for shits and giggles.

i wonder how many of these jerks would get reelected for driving the company/stadium/revenue out of NJ for insisting that a company use marketing that politicians think is appropriate.

I suspect this pandering to voters by NJ politicians will die down soon.  It has a short shelf life.  Let us all take a moment to reflect with sadness on the group inferiority complexes these politicians are encouraging in NJ citizens.  Ok, moment over.
