The King and I -- Week 2
You don't give Pavarotti only one aria. You don't pinch hit for Barry Bonds after one at bat. You don't cut Brian off after one Heineken.
And you don't limit the King to 13 minutes.
After achieving almost double digit hits last week, by indifferent demand, we're back for another installment of the King and I. We're already even more irrelevant that at first blush, as the King appears to have further cut his hair, making the headband (and the headband rating) somewhat out of date. Anticipating a reverse Sampson situation (the Steve Sampson effect?), we expect the goals to be dropping from the King like his long stringy hair on a barbershop floor in the Ironbound.
King Report: The King has fond memories of the Rapids, having set his unbroken and untied personal record for goals scored (one) against the team from the Mile High City. However, Bob Bradley did his best to limit the King's reign, leaving him on the bench for much of the affair in favor of Cornell Glen and John Wolyniec. After the Rapids took the lead early in the second half on a rebound goal by Jordan Cila, the King was brought into the game in the 77th minute, replacing Kenny (Tommy Boy) Arena. The King played an attacking role, mostly featuring on the left side. He had a few good passes in his short time on the field, almost getting a good opportunity on a give and go with Chris Leitch, but the return pass to the King was behind him. The King had a nice shot on target in the 85 minutes, cutting from left to right, but his low shot was well saved by Joe Cannon. Not given a chance to fully demonstrate his regal skills, that was basically it for the King, as the Metros fell 1-0.
King Stats: 13 minutes, one shot on target and zero headbands.
King Rating (out of four):

King Fact: The King was born in Concepcion, Argentina. My favorite shortstop growing up was Davey Concepcion.
